TDSS in Old Sac' - Part II

Continuing with TDSS's trip to Sacramento:

TDSS is nothing if not a history buff, enjoying the covered wagon relics from the old gold rush days:

Never one to miss a photo op with a trio of monkeys:

This little maid getup looks great on TDSS:

TDSS Hits Old Sac' - Part I

From the modern streets of Hollywood to the historic gold rush town of Old Sacramento, TDSS is experiencing all the personalities of California.

On the way to the State Capitol in 'new' Sacramento for a photo op with Ahhnode – but...no such luck, and the mounted police weren’t even giving out tickets for unauthorized use of stripes.

The Great Seal of California with Stone Cold Guilty and TDSS:

TDSS in “Old Sac” trying the patience of old west vendors and tourists alike. TDSS stopped at a place called Candy Heaven and promptly dressed the wooden cowpoke in style.

At the Indian Jewelry Trading Post we asked a nice wooden Indian if he'd like to try some color, for cryin' out loud.

Toward the end of our tour, we stopped for some much appreciated wine tasting and had a gander at the Old Eagle Theater.

Even the striking Sacramento County Workers protesting on Del Paso Boulevard got in on the act!

TDSS Blast from the Past

TDSS has been to California before. Here is a shot the from Crissy Field in San Francisco during TDSS's maiden adventure out west:

TDSS is no stranger to the redwood forest (or the gulf stream waters...this shirt was made for you and me)!

Coming up, TDSS laughs at Death.

Tree Hugging with TDSS

TDSS went to Henry Cowell Redwoods Park in Felton to do some communing with nature.

Some trees in this park are estimated to be 1400 to 1800 years old. We found a nice one and gave it a big hug.

Then we found one that had been hollowed out by fire and looked to see if we could find any critters living in it. No luck, there.

Celebrating a fine day for That Damned Striped Shirt's World Tour, we toasted Ben and munched on a few tortilla chips at the local Mexican risorante. Ole!

Next stop: Oregon country!

First Stop: Santa Cruz, Collyforny!

(Thanks to Mountain Woman for these tour notes.)

TDSS went to the famous Boardwalk in Santa Cruz where it strolled along the seashore and rode:

The Giant Dipper, one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the country.

Down the road, TDSS posed with Ben (a willing recruit) on the Surfer Statue.

It was 90 degrees on the coast and the sea breeze was awesome. Just up the road from there is Steamer Lane, one of the most famous surfing spots in the world. Hang Ten, DSS!

Here is TDSS on Squid Row.

Next stop was "The Mystery Spot", which is a head scratcher. As seen on TV, it's supposed to be a small area where the laws of physics and gravity don't apply. Sounds like a Mark Geragos courtroom. (See their web site at www.mysteryspot.com)
